New Coast Guard City Sign In Kodiak

Kodiak was designated by Congress as a Coast Guard City back in 2007. Recently, Kodiak CGAA Chapter Coordinator John Whiddon took note that the sign near the Airport was weather beaten and less than ideal. John was involved with the Kodiak Chamber of Com-merce and had commissioned the original sign over ten years ago. He met with Captain Nate Coulter, CO Air Station Kodiak, at the Fly By coffee shop to discuss CGAA activities. Nate Coulter suggested a joint CPOA/ City of Kodiak refurbishment project. The City pro-vided the materials and payed for the instillation of the new sign. In the meantime, the CPOA completed the work as a CCTI project. Though there was no direct CGAA involvement, the CGAA Kodiak Chapter Coordinator brought the necessary resources together and brought it to completion.
